Who are we?
The Wanganui Multiple Sclerosis Society is a non-profit organisation employing a part time field worker and a part time office administrator. Our society was incorporated in may 1989, is registered with the Charities Commission, and is also GST registered.
We receive approximately 20 percent of our operating costs from the Ministry Of Health, the remaining 80 percent we must source ourselves. We rely heavily on the goodwill of the public through donations of money and/or time, and on various Trusts and other organisations such as NZ Lotteries, COGS, Pub Charities, etc.
We also hold fundraising activities including an annual street appeal, raffles and sausage sizzles.
Michelle Chapman-
Cullen – Our Field Worker
Hi Everyone
My name is Michelle Chapman-Cullen and I am very fortunate to take over from Travena White as your new Field Worker. Travena and Carol Hammond have both been (and I hope will continue to be amazing mentors.
My family and I have recently moved from the Far North to beautiful Wanganui. I am married to Mike and we have five adult children, and three grandchildren. My husband suffers from Multiple Sclerosis, so I have first-hand experience from dealing with the disease.
I have been a carer in many roles. I am passionate about the well-being of my family and have done much research to help play a proactive role in their lives. I hope to be a positive influence on your lives too. I am very good at making a nice cuppa and having a good chat/listening.
I look forward to sharing my experience and skills as well as learning from you. It is a great day when I learn new things.
I have a Bachelor in Applied Arts and like to encourage Art Therapy. I enjoy retreating to my studio to paint emotive portraiture.
I am excited to bring my professionalism, creativity, support, friendship, cheeky humor and happy energy to this role. Bring on an amazing 2017 to us all.
Take care everyone, all the best …
Michelle Chapman-Cullen
Field Worker
